Cover Campaign down to Final 4

NHL 13EA Sports’ bracket-style selection process has narrowed its potential “NHL 13” cover boys down to four.

Philadelphia Flyers forward Claude Giroux has advanced to face Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin, and New York Islanders forward John Tavares is up against Nashville Predators goalie Pekka Rinne.  Fans have cast more than 19.5 million votes to date, according to a release from EA.

Beginning today at http://www.nhl.com/covervote, fans can vote an unlimited number of times for their favorite player to advance to the finals.

The NHL is arguably the most progressive of the four major North American sports. In some corners, it has to be to in order shed its ‘niche’ label. (Want a team in Florida? Here, have two!) The game of hockey moves fast; why shouldn’t its most popular league?

So try this on for size: Rather than complaining about who’s on the cover of EA Sports’ annual “NHL” video game, go vote for who you want to see. A novel thought.
